You have twenty-four hours and a mission that to many would seem overwhelming and perhaps daunting, even-dare I say it -impossible. But thanks to your superior DIY trade skills you can easily spruce up a designated area of your home and make a whole big picture difference with just one trick. Okay, enough of me talking, here’s how you can overcome the accepted mundaneness of your home and give it some fire: 1. Duvet Covers In the mood to give your bedroom some much needed pep and pizzazz? When this necessity makes itself known to us a quick way we can solve the dilemma is by giving the bed in bedroom an affordable makeover. Choosing a simple Duvet covet that will encase and button over your existing comforter or duvet not only can be a method to bring in the NEW factor, but it makes laundry day so much easier. For all those breakfast in bed moments, the spills can be easily dealt with when using a duvet cover. 2. Painted Picture Frame Matts It can be so hard to find the perfect matching hue to harmonize your room, so taking the left over pain from you accent wall you can easily dip and roll over your matts to bring some color semblance in your home as well as dress up outdated frames. Making décor relevant doesn’t have to imply purchasing new items! (Image courtesy of AliExpress) 3. Foiled by Tape Pencil a geometric pattern on your wall ensuring it’s even and straight. Using tin foil tape or other decorative adhesives that will stick through the temptations of time tape over your pattern. Instantly your wall becomes glamorous scenery amongst solid colored walls. This project doesn’t entail many hours nor does it require messing with painting over your blue tape to create the visual effect we have made with this simple 1,2,3 plan for wall embellishing. (Image courtesy of DecoratuArea) 4. Shelving Lights Bring some attention and focus to what deserves it most. Not only will this give your room additional lighting of a softer and gentler nature, you don’t need a manual, an electrician or a stud and wire finder to verify if you can proceed with wiring! Just purchase the type of LED lights you desire-tube, flexible, etc., – and install in any number of places: under the sofa for an edgy look, behind the molding of your wet bar cabinetry. This basic cost effective step can drastically change your room for the better. 5. Painted Door In this Starbucks cult era the need for a pick-me-up and the desire to indulge in some of Seattle’s best is at times overpowering. Well, if you think you are the only one, you are sadly mistaken. The reason inanimate objects that dwell in our home don’t receive lavish affections is because we’ve neglected them. (Image courtesy of Stephanie Wiley Photography) They are sad, droopy and are at least ten years overdue a little pick me up. Some caffeine, if you will. Giving a door or two in your space a little “me time” attention through a brazen move of color can and will do wonders for your space. This approach enables you to keep your walls white or beige but you can still sneak in some color. Try it and see for yourself. I dare you! 6. Custom Plate Arrangement Purchase an odd assortment and number of solid colored plates-can be plain white, even- or scrounge around in your cabinets for some beloved plate-ware with rustic appeal by way of chipped edges and pale grey veins on the surface proving the age and wear. Using a sharpie add some flair to each plate with a clever quote, special dates, names, a favorite expression, maybe some inspirational tip or if your brave some animation through art. Bake at 350’ F for 35 minutes, let cool. Arrange on your wall as fitting and enjoy for many years to come! (Project courtesy of DagensInterior)

We cannot help but invest ourselves in our homes. From picking the right paint color and arranging the furniture to deciding on the perfect accent décor, our design choices not only tells a story of our unique style, they make a house a home. No matter the style, a popular accent to any home that brings warmth and comfort is the candle. Used to create a memorable, aromatic atmosphere or simply to bring in more style, candles can be incorporated into unique arrangements that showcase your creativity. The Coffee Lover’s Delight This easy yet sophisticated display is warm and welcoming. Select three small, deep bowls or glass flower pots and fill them to the top with coffee beans choosing a bean flavor that matches the aroma you would like to achieve. Now center a votive candle on top, making sure you nestle it a bit into the coffee beans to help hold it in place. Thank you Buzzfeed (above) and Julia Soplop from CalmCradle (below) for inspiring these fragrant idea! Another idea comes from the guys at HauteMove. You can now turn those plain candles you have lying around into centerpieces that inspire relaxation. Place double adhesive tape around the bottom half of your candle then roll the candle in coffee beans, filling in the holes where necessary. Cork Candles Now you can finally put all of those saved wine corks to good use and add a classy vintage flare to your home at the same time! Fill the bottom of a large glass vase with wine corks, place a clear glass candle in the vase or jar, then fill in the area around the candle with the remaining corks. Voila! [... meanwhile, these are some more clever ideas on how to use extra corks] For a more rustic approach, you can use the same technique as the previous design, this time with the help of a mason jar. The full tutorial should be available here. This next arrangement can easily be placed in any room or accent any coffee table to add that extra touch you’ve been looking for; and for the cheap. It can be bought on Etsy for $15. For the Wine EnthusiastFor an elegant centerpiece idea, use wine goblets (or any glass jar). Take rubber bands and place them around the glass at random. Using Frosted Glass Spray paint (you can purchase this at a hardware store or online), spray the glass with two coats of paint. Once the paint had dried, remove the rubber bands and place your candle inside. Thank you BlissImagesAndBeyond, for this chic tutorial — it’s nothing short of inspiring! You can add a little extra holiday cheer to any room with these few simple steps. Turn three wine glasses upside down. Add a filler or festive item of your choice to the inside of each glass (now the bottom), such as holly or ornaments for Christmas. Finally, place a small candle on the base of the wine glass which is now serving as the pedestal. There you have it, a festive array of holiday candles! Thank you Indulgy for this great DIY project. Floating Candles This next idea is popular for weddings but can also bring class and elegance into your home. First, select a clear glass vase in the size and shape of your choice (tall cylindrical or square vases work the best). Once you have picked your vase, fill the bottom with rocks or glass beads. Next, fill the vase with water, leaving a little bit of space at the top. Carefully submerge a flower of your choice into the water then top with a small, round floating candle. [above from AFoolForFlowers] Sometimes less is more. Just fill that rather large glass bowl you have with some water, top with flower petals and a few floating candles, and you have a simple, yet sophisticated centerpiece. [freom eHow]
